Grant Enfinger Texas Motor Speedway 2023 Recap

April 3, 2023

Post-Race Quote: “I’d say we had a pretty decent day overall. I felt good about the grip we had this morning in practice. I felt like we wanted the track to be hot and slick and that’s what it was the first part of the race. The first stint we were able to move up some and then something happened after that first caution. I was hanging on until we had that competition caution. We fought hard the whole day, and got ourselves in position at the end. I feel like Jeff made the right call on the last pitstop. I was kind of holding back on some of those other pitstops, but he definitely made the right call on that last pit stop.

We had a top-five truck there at the end and finally to able drive up to fifth, and just got caught in a bunch of craziness on those last few restarts. We ended up going to the top in turns three and four, it got loose under us, and had it saved and then somebody hit us. It destroyed the truck. It was an unfortunate end to things. It was unfortunate in the beginning too, but we had a truck that had some speed. We had a couple little nuances that we need to figure out. I appreciate the guys keeping on working. It’s been a little bit frustrating the past couple weeks. We will be ready for Bristol.”

Cooper Davis Albuquerque 2023 Recap

March 28, 2023

Cooper Davis went 0 for 1 this weekend and fell to sixth in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 454.00 points.  In his buck-off Friday night Cooper took a shot to the chin suffering a concussion, which held him out of competition for the rest of the weekend. Talking to him this morning he doesn’t see an issue with him competing this weekend in Sioux Falls.

Jess Lockwood Albuquerque 2023 Recap

March 28, 2023

Jess Lockwood’s riding status remains unclear at this time.  He has since returned from his appointment with Dr. Myers (Pelvis surgeon in Philadelphia) where he received seven steroid shots to try and rectify his discomfort / tightness internally.  He has a call with Dr. Freeman this afternoon to come up with a plan moving forward.  After talking to Jess again this morning his frustration level is peaking as both he and Dr. Freeman felt that he would have received more direction from his Philadelphia visit rather than a few injections, and some hope, to see if that will cure his current condition.  I will touch base with you later on this week with an update … and hopefully a clearer path for Jess.  He is currently 27th in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 159 points.

Kaique Pacheco Albuquerque 2023 Recap

March 28, 2023

Kaique Pacheco went 2 for 3 in the event and improved one spot to 2nd in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 736.50 points.  His weekend was highlighted by placing 4th in round 2 and finishing 2nd overall in the event, earning 74 points.  He continues to lead the Tour now with 10-event championship round qualifications, riding 6 of those 10 attempts.  He also leads in total bull attempts with 46, and bulls ridden with 24.  His 52.2% riding percentage ranks 3rd.  This marks the 10th consecutive week that Kaique has ranked inside the top four of the finals standings.

Kaique’s ride in the Indianapolis 15 – 15 (1-28-2023) on Ricky Vaughn for 93 Points remains the highest marked ride on the UTB Tour so far this season.  In honor of fallen PBR rider Mason Lowe (1993 – 2019), PBR awards the rider with the highest score of the season with The Mason Lowe Award.

Kaique failed to convert on his 15 / 15 Bucking Battle attempt Saturday night.

Post-Race Quote: “A little bit of a frustrating day, we had higher expectations leaving the track here yesterday at COTA. I feel like we had a potential to be in the top-five speed wise with our Champion Power Equipment Chevy. Little by little, we slowed down a bit. It went from being able to attack the braking zones, but we lacked a little bit of forward drive, and the driver was giving up a little bit in one segment. Overall, just kind of tried to make the most of it. The strategy ended up not working out for us. We kind of gave up the stage points and track position. Overall, we were good enough to come from 21st on the restart to finish 12th. We probably had a 10th place truck, so we are definitely looking for more at our next road course outing. A little disappointing, but proud of everyone’s effort at GMS Racing.”
