Briggs Madsen was cleared for competition last week and intends on competing early April in Nampa, ID. So it’s practice bulls in the meantime to ready himself for the UTB level bull power. Briggs remains 50th in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 40 points.
Eli Vastbinder went 0 for 2 in the event, and is currently 21st in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 219.50 points.
With multiple injuries to riders inside the top 15, Eli qualified for his first 15 / 15 Bucking Battle round this year. Unfortunately he failed to cover the attempt.
Cooper Davis went 0 for 1 this weekend and fell to sixth in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 454.00 points. In his buck-off Friday night Cooper took a shot to the chin suffering a concussion, which held him out of competition for the rest of the weekend. Talking to him this morning he doesn’t see an issue with him competing this weekend in Sioux Falls.
Jess Lockwood’s riding status remains unclear at this time. He has since returned from his appointment with Dr. Myers (Pelvis surgeon in Philadelphia) where he received seven steroid shots to try and rectify his discomfort / tightness internally. He has a call with Dr. Freeman this afternoon to come up with a plan moving forward. After talking to Jess again this morning his frustration level is peaking as both he and Dr. Freeman felt that he would have received more direction from his Philadelphia visit rather than a few injections, and some hope, to see if that will cure his current condition. I will touch base with you later on this week with an update … and hopefully a clearer path for Jess. He is currently 27th in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 159 points.
Kaique Pacheco went 2 for 3 in the event and improved one spot to 2nd in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 736.50 points. His weekend was highlighted by placing 4th in round 2 and finishing 2nd overall in the event, earning 74 points. He continues to lead the Tour now with 10-event championship round qualifications, riding 6 of those 10 attempts. He also leads in total bull attempts with 46, and bulls ridden with 24. His 52.2% riding percentage ranks 3rd. This marks the 10th consecutive week that Kaique has ranked inside the top four of the finals standings.
Kaique’s ride in the Indianapolis 15 – 15 (1-28-2023) on Ricky Vaughn for 93 Points remains the highest marked ride on the UTB Tour so far this season. In honor of fallen PBR rider Mason Lowe (1993 – 2019), PBR awards the rider with the highest score of the season with The Mason Lowe Award.
Kaique failed to convert on his 15 / 15 Bucking Battle attempt Saturday night.

In his follow up Dr. appointment today, Briggs Madsen has been cleared for competition and he will now head down to Texas (from snow covered Utah) to get on some practice bulls. Advice from the surgeon and his personal trainer calls for two weeks of weight bearing training and riding practice bulls before returning to PBR UTB level of bulls in Nampa, ID early April. Briggs remains 50th in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 40 points.
Eli Vastbinder went 1 for 2 over the weekend, sharing 10th – 11th place in round one, and finishing in a tie for 12th – 13th overall in the event. Eli earned 9.50 points and is currently 20th in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 219.50 points.
