Cooper Davis PBR World Finals 2023 Recap (Part 1)

Cooper Davis has ridden 1 of 3 bulls, with his success coming yesterday afternoon in round 3 placing T – 5/6 in the round, and currently T – 12/13th in the event aggregate.  He earned 34 points and remains fourth overall in the 2023 PBR UTB world standings with 679.50 points.

Cooper Davis is currently 4th overall in the 2023 PBR UTB world standings with 645.50 points and he has qualified for his eighth PBR World Finals; winning his lone World Championship in 2016, and winning the Finals event in 2015.  In 20 events (18 regular tour stops and 2 – 15/15 Bucking Battles) Cooper rode 22 (T – 5th on tour) of 46 outs for a 47.83 riding %, good for 5th on tour.  He won 2 UTB events (T – 2nd on tour, St. Louis, Billings), has 4 round wins, T – 4th and he spent two weeks of the season ranked #1 in the world.  Three top 5, and nine top 10 finishes has Cooper well within reach of his second world title.

Cooper was held out of the last three events after suffering a lower inner thigh strain of his Gracilis muscle where it attaches to the inner knee.  The injury, which came on his bull in the Billings event championship round will not hold him back for the Finals event.

Cooper Davis was a last minute scratch and did not compete in Louisville as he continues to manage a lower inner thigh strain of his Gracilis muscle where it attaches to the inner knee.  Cooper has not lost ground in the PBR UTB world finals standings and remains fourth with 645.50 points.

Cooper Davis Tacoma 2023 Recap

April 24, 2023

Cooper Davis did not compete in Tacoma after injuring his groin in the Billings, MT event Championship round.  He was considered ‘day to day’ and has confirmed today that he will compete in Louisville this weekend.  It is a lower inner thigh strain of his gracilis muscle where it attaches to the inner knee.  MRI determines for now that his knee is stable and he’s ready to go.  Cooper remains fourth in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 645.50 points.

Cooper Davis Everett 2023 Recap

Cooper Davis did not compete in Everett after injuring his groin in the Billings event Championship round.  He is considered ‘day to day’ and is planning to join the tour in Tacoma this weekend.  He has an MRI scheduled this morning (Friday) which will reveal the next steps.  He is currently fourth in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 645.50 points.

Cooper Davis rode 3 of 4 bulls and lead wire to wire to win his 2nd event championship of the season, earning a critical cache of points and confidence.  Cooper won Round 1, his 4th of the season, placed 2nd in Round’s 2 and 3 and had won the event already before failing to cover his event championship round attempt.  However that failed ride may have more consequences than a clean sheet in Billings.  Cooper appeared to injure his groin on the attempt; initial observations from Sports Med are that it may not be too serious, but that remains to be seen with two events in the next 6 days.  Cooper earned 163.50 points and improved 2 positions to fourth in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 645.50 points.  This was Cooper’s 10thevent championship round qualification (ridden 3 of 10 bulls), he has ridden 22 bulls in total which ranks T – 2nd on Tour and his 47.83 % riding percentage ranks 5th.  Cooper has been ranked inside the top 7 since the first week of the season; no other rider has been able to maintain this level of consistency throughout the season.

Cooper Davis went 1 for 3 highlighted by placing 4th in round 1 and finishing 6th overall in the event.  Cooper earned 28 points and improved to sixth in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 482.00 points.  This was Cooper’s 9th event championship round (ridden 3 of 9 bulls), he has ridden 19 bulls in total which ranks 5th on Tour and his 45.23 % riding percentage ranks 7th.  Cooper has been ranked inside the top 7 since the first week of the season; no other rider has been able to maintain this level of consistency throughout the season.

Cooper Davis went 0 for 1 this weekend and is currently seventh in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 454.00 points.  Cooper was unable to compete after round 1 due to competition related issues, but is expected to be in the draw this weekend in Nampa, ID.  So far to date Davis has ridden 18 of 39 bulls and his 46.1% riding mark ranks T – 5th, his 18 bulls ridden ranks T – 5th, his 8 event championship rounds ranks T – 2nd, and his 3 event round wins ranks T – 4th.  Cooper has been ranked inside the top 7 since the first week of the season; no other rider has been able to maintain this level of consistency throughout the season.

Cooper Davis went 0 for 1 this weekend and fell to sixth in the PBR UTB world finals standings with 454.00 points.  In his buck-off Friday night Cooper took a shot to the chin suffering a concussion, which held him out of competition for the rest of the weekend. Talking to him this morning he doesn’t see an issue with him competing this weekend in Sioux Falls.
