The 8-inch bit drills to a maximum depth of 30 inches, sized for fence posts, mailbox posts, sign posts, and planting holes. A hardened fishtail tip centers the hole and cuts the starting point, and the cold-rolled carbon steel bit lifts soil up and out as you drill.
Power comes from a 53cc 4-cycle OHV engine that runs on regular gasoline, so there are no mixing ratios to measure and no premix going stale in the can. A direct-drive gearbox with 30:1 gear reduction turns engine speed into torque at the bit, helping it keep cutting through compacted soil and roots.
Extra-wide butterfly handles give one person the leverage to steady the auger when the bit catches, and soft anti-vibration grips keep your hands comfortable through a row of holes.
