Kaique Pacheco World Finals 2021 Recap

November 8, 2021

PACHECO PUTS UP POINTS – Since world No. 1 Jose Vitor Leme sustained a groin injury in mid-September, 2018 PBR World Champion and world No. 2 Kaique Pacheco has steadily been chipping away at his countryman’s lead in the title race. And while Pacheco may have lost ground to Leme in Round 4, he kept his hopes of a second World Championship alive courtesy of a 10th-place finish.

Pacheco became just the second rider in 40 attempts across all levels of competition to cover Capone when he reached the requisite 8 for 87.75 points. The qualified ride netted him 16 world points and he now trails No. 1 Leme by 591 points.

Pacheco, who has gone 3-for-4 at the sport’s most prestigious event, is now tied for fourth on the event leaderboard. He trails the top spot by 86.75 points.

Pacheco is having arguably the best season of his career and is on pace to surpass his totals from his 2018 championship campaign. Pacheco has tied his career-high for event wins (5) by going 48-for-91 (52.74%). In 2018, he won four events and had 42 qualified rides. Pacheco set a career-high with 52 qualified rides five years ago, but he fell just shy of holding off Cooper Davis for the 2016 world title.

On the final day of the season, Pacheco drafted Kid Knapper as his Round 5 opponent.
