Re: Los Angeles – Iron Cowboy presented by Ariat results
This past weekend’s Iron Cowboy event was a progressive-elimination format competition. Each rider attempted a bull in round one and if successful he advanced to round 2. If he failed in his attempt he was done for the weekend. The ‘Major’ event featured a minimum of two rounds and a maximum of five, with at least 25 riders advancing to Round 2. If fewer than 25 riders advance to Round 2, the remaining spots in the draw were filled by the world standings heading into the event.
Kaique Pacheco bucked off his bull Friday night and was done for the weekend. He is currently 87th in the world standings with 53 points.

“We had a good practice on Thursday, which is an important part of this deal. We showed up with good speed in our Champion Power Equipment/Curb Records Ford F-150 and man, we made it interesting there at the end. We got in that wreck there on lap 55, went a couple laps down, but never gave up, and all the cautions fell in our favor. All considering, we had good speed, and a good run there at the end. I tried to push Crafton, and felt like I could have gotten around him, but the 16 threw a big time block, and I was going to wreck him if I stayed with it. So, that’s when we got shuffled around, and just couldn’t get a good run coming to the checkers. It was a tough race, but I’m proud of everybody here behind me who helped me fight for this second-place finish tonight.”

Kaique Pacheco returned to the PBR UTB tour this past weekend and went 1 for 3, the lone highlight a third place finish in round one with a bull score high enough to qualify for the event championship round. Kaique earned 53 world standings points for his eighth place finish in the event and after sitting out the first five events, he begins his title defense in 83rd place in the PBR world standings. Something to think about leading up to this week’s Iron Cowboy PBR Major event, the reigning PBR World Champion owns the PBR record with four PBR Major victories. He has won three consecutive Last Cowboy Standing titles and one Music City Knockout championship.
Up Next for PBR’s Unleash the Beast tour: The PBR UTB tour heads west to Los Angeles, CA for the 2019 Iron Cowboy at Staples Center. The second of four PBR Major events in the season comes with a unique format compared to standard Unleash the Beast events. Iron Cowboy is a minimum of two rounds and a maximum of five. At least 25 riders will advance to Round 2, with any draw spots being filled by the current world standings heading into Iron Cowboy if there are less than 25 rides in Round 1. If all riders buck off in Rounds 2, 3 or 4, then all riders that attempted a bull advance to the next round.
If there is more than one ride in the final round (Round 5), then the Iron Cowboy will be the rider with the highest ride score in Round 5. If there are no rides in Round 5, then the Iron Cowboy will be the rider with the most round points that had competed in Round 5.
The seventh stop in the 2019 season gets underway Friday February 22nd at 7:45 pm PST and concludes Saturday February 23rd at 6:45 pm PST. CBS Sports Network will air round two and the Championship round Saturday February 23rd 10:30 pm EST.
