Jess Lockwood World Finals (Final) 2022 Recap

June 20, 2022

Lingering effects from a 2021 pelvis surgery, and a shoulder fracture early in the season limited Jess Lockwood to six regular season events.  He had one top ten finish, and qualified for one event championship round.  Jess finished the season with 54 points, placing 72nd in the PBR World Standings.

After much thought and discussion, Jess opted in to the Teams Series in a limited roll, and was selected by the Oklahoma Freedom in the first round of the Supplemental draft.  Jess will not ride a complete schedule as he continues to get back into riding condition.  His short term goal and focus is to use the Team Series schedule and coaching to his advantage and get prepared for a run at the 2023 PBR UTB world title, which would be his third championship (2017 & 2019).  Whatever success comes from the Team Series will be a bonus.

Kaique Pacheco World Finals (Final) 2022 Recap

June 20, 2022

Kaique Pacheco finished third in the World Finals event, and Reserve PBR World Champion to eventual winner D. Swearingen in one of the most highly contested PBR World Championships in recent memory.  Kaique rode 5 of 8 bulls, highlighted by a 4th in Rd.’s 2 & 3, a 1st in round 4, and top 7 finishes in Rd.’s 6 & 7.  His event championship round buck off would prove to be the costliest of the season, where IF he had ridden for at least 91.25 points (and he had plenty of bull to score 91+) he would have elevated himself to the World Standings Lead, and force Swearingen to cover his last attempt.  But it was not meant to be and Kaique finished second in the world standings for the fourth time (2022 – 21, 2015 – 16).  If you remove Pacheco’s 2019 injury plagued season in which he finished 79th, from 2015 to 2022 his average season finish is a remarkable 2.8!

That being said, you should know that Kaique broke his foot in round 2, inside the bucking chutes prior to riding his bull.  He will never say it, and there are never any excuses but he came within one ride of potentially winning another world title.  By finishing 3rd in the event Kaique earned 480 world points and $174,000, with his yearend totals being 1,275 points, a second place finish in the world standings and $373,194 in season earnings

Injuries held Kaique to 22 PBR UTB events; 15 regular season, the world finals and he qualified and competed in six 15 / 15 Bucking Battle rounds.  He won two UTB events (Sioux Falls and Everett), he had five 90 point rides and lead the PBR UTB with 28 bull ridden.  His riding percentage of 54.90 % (28 of 51) was also the best for those at World Finals.  Kaique lead the series with nine event round wins, 3 of which were event championship rounds (also lead the series), he qualified and competed in 11 event championship rounds, had eight top 5 and ten top 10 finishes.

Kaique was drafted in the first round, second overall by the Nashville Stampede in the PBR Team series draft.

Kaique Pacheco PBR World Finals 2022 Recap

May 16, 2022

Kaique Pacheco rode 2 of 3 over the weekend highlighted by placing 4th in both rounds 2 and 3.  Unfortunately for Kaique it looks like he may have fractured his foot while attempting his second round bull Saturday night.  We will know more later today after X – Rays and MRI if needed.   His bull became agitated in the chutes prior to the gate opening and Kaique’s foot was slammed into the side panels.  He rode last night with a steel plate inside his boot to protect it.  He has vowed to not let this injury hold him back from trying to win his 2nd world title.  Pacheco is currently 7th in the event, he’s earned 79 standings points on two rides and remains 3rd in the world standings with 874 points.
