Jess Lockwood St. Louis 2022 Recap

February 21, 2022

In his physician’s visit last Thursday Jess Lockwood received some good news in that surgery is not required to repair his injured riding shoulder. An MRI discovered a rare broken coracoid process, (the coracoid process (from Greek κόραξ, raven) is a small hook-like structure on the lateral edge of the superior anterior portion of the scapula (hence: coracoid, or “like a raven’s beak”).  Pointing laterally forward, it, together with the acromion, serves to stabilize the shoulder joint). Jess has a follow up appointment with Dr. Tandy Freeman in 4 weeks, at which time a further assessment will be made.  At the moment the thought is he will need 6 – 8 weeks of rest and rehabilitation before competing again.  A much better prognosis than 6 – 9 months if a shoulder reconstruction surgery was needed.

Kaique Pacheco St. Louis 2022 Recap

February 21, 2022

Kaique Pacheco returned to competition and went 1 for 3, highlighted with wining round 2, his first round win of the season. Kaique qualified for his second event championship round (Indy) and finished 8th overall in the event. That ride broke an uncharacteristic 0 for 7 slide dating back to the first event in Indianapolis. Kaique hadn’t seen a stretch like this since January – March of 2018 when he was marred in an 0 for 13 stretch.  He is past the shoulder injury now and feels great.  He earned 33 standings points and is currently 51st in the in the PBR world standings with 42.50 points. He has one more injury exemption to secure his place on the UTB Tour and be inside the top 25. If needed, he can use one or more of his five World Championship exemptions as well.
